Set up your venue

Create a venue in the web app and upload your floor plans. Align each plan accurately on the map: the plans are used to place the data you collect in the next step. In the same tool you can add wayfinding graphs, geofences and points of interest.

Map the venue

Install MapCreator on an Android phone and walk the venue to record the magnetic and radio signals. BLE beacons are recommended, especially for iPhones, where they give a fast first position; if you use them, install them before mapping. The Beacon Planner in the web app shows how many beacons you need and where. The recorded data is uploaded and the map is generated in the cloud.

Validate

Check map quality in the web app or in MapCreator, and test positioning on site. For an objective measurement, record test sessions with ground-truth paths in MapCreator and review them in the Session Viewer.

Build your app

Create an API key in the web app and add the SDK to your Android, iOS, React Native, Cordova or Flutter app. Code examples are on GitHub, and documentation is in our knowledge base. To test without coding, use the IndoorAtlas app for iOS and Android.

Extend with REST APIs

The Positioning REST API returns a position for a Wi-Fi or BLE scan sent from any connected device, which suits IoT devices that cannot run the SDK. The Data REST API gives access to stored positioning sessions for analytics and business intelligence.
